Family members of other patients fear there may be more victims at Hacienda HealthCare, which has a history of patient mistreatment.

Sgt. Tommy Thompson said only that the "the matter is under investigation", but declined to elaborate.

It would be the police who would lead DNA testing to figure out who fathered the baby, Solomon said, adding that it would be hard for Hacienda to escape liability.

The 29-year-old woman had been a patient at the Phoenix facility for more than a decade after nearly drowning, according to azfamily.com, two Meredith Corp. -owned TV stations that broke the story; police declined to provided NPR with details about their investigation.

Eagles fans Venmo Bears kicker to thank him for missing field goal
The defending Super Bowl champion Eagles are headed to New Orleans to face the Saints next weekend. Unsurprisingly, social media was awash with reaction to the game's dramatic finish.

"I can't believe someone would bathe her daily for nine months, never know she wasn't having her period, she wasn't growing in her mid-section", one of the woman's former caregivers told ABC15, which did not reveal his or her identity.

The woman who gave birth at a Phoenix health care facility recently despite being in a vegetative state was identified Tuesday as a 29-year-old member of the San Carlos Apache Tribe.

"We will continue to cooperate with Phoenix Police and all other other investigative agencies to uncover the facts in this deeply disturbing, but unprecedented situation".

The tribe confirmed the events surrounding the birth at Hacienda HealthCare in a press release obtained by ABC15, saying the patient "has been in a persistent vegetative state and coma for over a decade".

It came after reports that the woman, who was left in the vegetative state after a near-drowning incident, was sexually assaulted a few times.

In addition to working with police, state officials are "re-evaluating the state's contract and regulatory authority as it relates to this facility and have been working closely with state agencies to ensure all necessary safety measures are in place", Patrick Ptak, a spokesperson for Ducey, R, said in a statement.

The CBS source also claimed the facility has introduced a new rule that male staff members are banned from seeing a female patient without a female staff member after the incident.

Hacienda HealthCare, which tends to medically fragile children and young adults in Arizona has an admirable motto: "In special lives, we make a difference".

The health care facility has at least 74 patient beds, according to federal records.

Kevin Spacey attends court in Nantucket on indecent assault charge
A judge granted a prosecutor's request that Spacey, 59, be ordered to stay away from the accuser and have no contact with him. Kevin Spacey has now formally appeared in court to plead "not guilty" over a felony sexual assault charge.

The Arizona Department of Health Service and the Arizona Department of Economic security have also released statements and both organisations are conducting investigations into the incident and conditions at the facility. In 2013, a male employee was found to have made sexually explicit remarks to patients, though no physical or sexual abuse allegations were made and the employee was sacked. "Whether it's an employee or someone from the outside, the facility has an obligation to protect residents".
