US sends troops for possible 'violent' Congo vote protests

Anticipating growing conflict, Trump said more US military personnel will deploy as needed to Gabon, Congo or neighboring Republic of Congo.

Provisional results from the contentious polls were expected on Sunday and the Catholic Church has said it knows the victor according to its own unofficial tallies.

Congo's electoral commission is scheduled to release the provisional results of the presidential election on Sunday, but it has said there could be delays because of the slow arrival of tally sheets.
