Jazmine Barnes' father responds to suspects being in custody

Sources are saying a shooting suspect is in custody for the shooting death of 7-year-old Jazmine Barnes.

One week after the shooting occurred, Larry Woodruffe and Eric Black, Jr. have been arrested in Harris County, Texas.

The arrest of a black suspect appears to contradict the family's previous account of the murder, in which they described the shooter as a white man, leading some to suggest that the attack was racially motivated.

Police now say they do not believe the family was targeted and that the shooting may have been a case of mistaken identity.

Koszalin Mayor Piotr Jedlinski said in a statement the city would enter a day of mourning, on Sunday, for the loss of the girls. In the United Kingdom alone, the number of escape rooms has soared from just seven in 2013 to more than 1,000 as of past year .

Ed Gonzalez, the sheriff, said in a statement: "Our work is not finished, but I believe the people of Harris county can take comfort in knowing we have made great progress". In hopes of locating a suspect, the Houston County Sheriff's Office has released a composite sketch of a man wanted in the recent murder.

"They were quiet, but strong", sketch artist Lois Gibson said of the sisters, who cried after seeing the drawing.

The prosecutor added that the source, who communicated with the police via email, said Black and Larry W. did not know they had shot into the vehicle carrying the 7-year-old until they saw the story on the news later that day.

Initially, Houston police were in pursuit of a potential white male suspect in his 40's.

Chris Sevilla said in a brief telephone interview Sunday he was feeling "a bit of relief" after an arrest in the slaying of his daughter, Jazmine Barnes. When the two men taken into custody were African-American, the prior description didn't fit the focus of the intense investigation that had been going on for a week. He said Sunday that Black Jr. was apprehended on Saturday afternoon.

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, a black Democrat who represents parts of Houston, said there was nothing irresponsible about the early suggestions it was hate crime. Her mother, who was also struck in the shooting, was treated for an injury to her arm. Houston-based rappers Paul Wall and Trae tha Truth asked the crowd to reach out to authorities if they have any information on the shooter.

A $100,000 (£79,300) reward for finding Jazmine's killer was also offered by civil rights lawyer Lee Merritt and activist Shaun King. Her funeral is at noon.
