Ex-Fox News anchor to be new United States ambassador to the UN

President Donald Trump plans to nominate State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert as the next U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, a senior administration official said Thursday.

Nauert would replace Nikki Haley, who has held the post since the beginning of Trump's administration. She became the spokeswoman to the State Department in 2017.

Ms Nauert worked for Fox News from 1998 to 2005 and, after two years away during which she worked for ABC, she returned to Fox in 2007, later becoming a presenter for Fox & Friends.

They are urging people , for example, to use phrases like "bringing home the bagels" instead of 'bringing home the bacon'. Rather than using the phrase " kill two birds with one stone ", their alternative is " feed two birds with one scone ".

Bloomberg also reported Thursday that President Trump had chosen Nauert for the role.

Nauert and the State Department did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The 46-year-old former SC governor - one of the few women in the Trump cabinet - gave no reason for leaving, but dismissed speculation she was planning to run for president in 2020. She met with Trump at the end of October, fueling speculation that she had emerged as the president's top choice for the role. She hadn't specialized in foreign policy or worldwide relations.

The president has reportedly sought out someone who will demonstrate loyalty. If Nauert is confirmed by the Senate, she would be a leading administration voice on Trump's foreign policy.

A Republican congressional aide said the president was expected to announce his decision to tap Heather Nauert for the U.N. Ambassador position by tweet on Friday morning. Since mid-October, she had rarely been seen by reporters at the State Department as Palladino took the lead.

Haley took a particularly forceful posture against Russian Federation, assailing the Kremlin at United Nations security council meetings over its aggression in Ukraine and support for Bashar al-Assad in Syria, even as Trump remained reluctant to criticize Vladimir Putin.
