U.S. Confirms: Iran Successfully Fired Nuclear Capable Missiles

While tensions between the United States and Iran remain at an all time high after Tehran test fired a ballistic missile that is capable of carrying multiple warheads, violating United Nations resolutions, on Saturday.

On Saturday, Pompeo said Iran had tested a medium-range ballistic missile in violation of a United Nations resolution, while Iran said its missile program was purely defensive in nature and exclusively for the defense of the country.

The Trump administration's response to these latest tests stands apart from that of its predecessor, the Obama administration, which intentionally left Iran's ballistic missile technology off the table when inking the landmark nuclear pact.

Iranian military leaders on Sunday vowed to press ahead with weapons testing of intermediate and long-range missiles, as well as other advanced arms systems, which have been banned by sanctions issued by the US and United Nations.

"The United States has repeatedly warned the world about Iran's deliberate efforts to destabilize the Middle East and defy global norms", US Ambassador Nikki Haley said in a statement.
