Fox News Calls Hannity, Pirro's Campaigning With Trump A 'Distraction'

Ahead of President Donald Trump's final election rally, the Fox News host said he wouldn't appear on stage with the President to help excite the Republican base before voters head to the polls Tuesday.

Cape Girardeau, MO - President Donald Trump will speak at a rally in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on Monday night, November 5.

That seemed to be a good enough explanation for his employers over at Fox News, who issued a statement on the matter Tuesday afternoon.

"Fox News does not condone any talent participating in campaign events", Fox News said in a statement. "We have an extraordinary team of journalists helming our coverage tonight and we are extremely proud of their work".

Fox called it an "unfortunate distraction" that has been addressed.

What was so disgusting about Fox News on Monday night was the way Hannity operated straight out of the propaganda handbook using techniques to mock and vilify opponents that had been used by the publicity machines of fascist leaders since the 1930s in Europe during the early days of electronic mass communications. He was followed by another Fox News host, Jeanine Pirro, both of whom gave remarks from the lectern backing the president.

Although Hannity promised in a tweet not to campaign with the president, he appeared on stage with Trump at the rally.

"It disturbs me to my core", another Fox News staffer agreed.

A handful of Fox News employees told CNN's Oliver Darcy that people throughout the network were upset, believing that "a new line was crossed".

That was clear to those in attendance however, as the press pit was corralled into one pen to the side of he stage while Fox News was given its own area that was equal in size right in the middle of he venue.

But Monday night's appearance at Trump's rally was one of the clearest examples to date of Hannity's growing invincibility at the network.

"They're having a schizophrenic moment over there trying to figure out what their role over there is supposed to be with the Trump presidency", she added.

White House reporter Maggie Haberman of The New York Times tweeted: "Still can't get over Hannity denying he would be on stage the whole day, getting brought up by Trump, and then pointing to actual news reporters and calling them fake".
