Saudi Arabia invites Turkey to visit Istanbul consulate: Anadolu agency

Saudi Arabia's consul-general told Reuters on Saturday his country was helping search for Khashoggi, and dismissed talk of his possible abduction.

The image was given to the Post by someone close to the Turkish investigation and released by the USA daily soon after Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan challenged the Saudis to prove he left the consulate unharmed. "It is going to put further stress on the relationship, particularly in terms of congressional views on Saudi Arabia", said Gerald Feierstein, a veteran U.S. diplomat in the Middle East who served as ambassador to Yemen.

Government sources said police believe the journalist was killed inside the consulate.

A Washington Post columnist and prominent newspaper editor in Saudi Arabia, Khashoggi mysteriously vanished last week.

Saudi Ambassador to the United States Prince Khalid bin Salman, the Saudi Crown Prince's brother, echoed these comments in a statement, adding that his country has sent a security team, with Turkey's approval, to assist in the investigation. We look at the media and see various reports that make us think about it.

Bellingcat said it gathered its information from open sources and " testimony from people familiar with the person ". Bellingcat last month identified Boshirov as a colonel in the GRU whose real name was Anatoliy Chepiga.

But analysts say that although claims that Khashoggi has been killed after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul a week ago remain unconfirmed, if they are true they would seriously damage the prince's credentials as a reformer.

U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed concern about the writer's disappearance, and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said U.S. officials have raised the matter with their Saudi counterparts.

Journalists and activists gathered outside the Saudi consulate on Monday demanding information on Khashoggi's fate. "We want to swiftly get results", he said, adding without explanation: "My expectation is still positive". "We hear the rumors about what happened", Saudi Crown Prince and de facto ruler Mohammed Bin Salman, known in the West as MBS, told Bloomberg News in an extensive interview. "As we speak today, there are Saudi intellectuals and journalists jailed".

Khashoggi's disappearance could put pressure on the Saudi prince, who has promoted an image of himself as a reformer and a reliable Western ally.

NBC also reports that two other people said he was told to return another day after going to the consulate in Istanbul. According to his fiancée, who accompanied him and waited outside, he entered the building at 1:30 pm and failed to emerge when the office closed at 5 pm.

Hendriks (the loser) had not allowed a home run since June 24, the night before he was cut from the major league roster. New York's bullpen has allowed one run in 10 innings, led by Dellin Betances, Zach Britton and Aroldis Chapman.

It is well-known that Turkey and Saudi Arabia have, of late, been involved in a fierce competition to gain supremacy in the Middle East and Gulf region.

The BBC was criticised on social media for airing the recordings without Mr Khashoggi's consent and before there is any definitive proof of his death. On Sunday, another official assessed it as "high probability" that Khashoggi was killed in the consulate and his body was taken away. "I love working with him", MBS said about his relationship with Trump and their joint battle against the Islamic State and other Islamist militants who endorse terrorism. "Jamal was - or, as we hope, is - a committed, courageous journalist".

A statement from Turkish spokesman Hami Aksoy said Saudi authorities were "open to cooperation" and had stated their willingness to cooperate and would allow an examination of the consulate grounds.

"Do you not have cameras and everything of the sort?"
