Clinton says Trump remarks at Kavanaugh swearing-in undermine Supreme Court

President Donald Trump stood behind him and declared Kavanaugh had been "proven innocent" in a special ceremony at the White House on Monday.

ActBlue - an online fundraising platform for Democrats - raised almost $10 million on October 5 - the day the Senate held a procedural vote on moving Kavanaugh's nomination forward - and another $9 million on October 6, the day the upper chamber formally confirmed him.

On Monday evening Kavanaugh, 53, joined family members, friends and President Trump at the White House for a ceremonial swearing-in ceremony, where the new justice tried to ease the partisan wounds from his confirmation process.

Mr Kavanaugh moved to the Supreme Court after spending 12 years as a judge on the influential U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington, building a conservative judicial record.

"On behalf of our nation, I want to apologize to Brett and the entire Kavanaugh family for the awful pain and suffering you have been forced to endure", Mr Trump said at the jurist's White House swearing-in ceremony.

Chuck Liddell Comments on UFC 229 Brawl
While Khabib vs McGregor II would definitely do numbers, there are other fighters who are looking for a title shot as well. In April, McGregor came to Lobov's defence when his colleague was confronted by Nurmagomedov in Brooklyn.

Trump on Twitter on Tuesday said he was "very proud" of Kavanaugh and his family, and disparaged the anti-Kavanaugh protesters.

Kavanaugh was confirmed by the Senate on Saturday, earning 50 "yes" votes - the fewest for any Supreme Court justice in the modern era.

"Four of the female clerks currently serving at the Supreme Court were with him at the DC Circuit, and now he's tipped the balance at the court for the first time with an all-female clerk class", she said.

But after being sworn in, Kavanaugh struck a markedly more conciliatory tone.

Hundreds of protesters had also swarmed the steps of the Supreme Court. The Senate Judiciary Committee also heard testimony from Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, who alleges Kavanaugh pushed her onto a bed, groped her and tried to remove her clothes.

Doctor Who: Jodie Whittaker's debut is most watched launch for 10 years
No TARDIS, no sonic screwdriver, just her trying to figure out how to stop an alien race from "hunting" a human being as a target. In its new Sunday evening slot on BBC One , " Doctor Who " generated an average of 8.2 million viewers, and a peak of 9 million.

After an extra Federal Bureau of Investigation probe - which media reports say was drastically curtailed by the White House - also found nothing new, Kavanaugh was finally voted into the coveted post.

He said: "Although the Senate confirmation process tested me as it has tested others, it did not change me".

In reality, Kavanaugh´s confirmation lit a match under existing tensions ahead of the midterm elections. Fifty-two percent said they believed the women versus 38 percent who said found Kavanaugh most credible. "It is not a partisan or political institution", Kavanaugh said.

Maine's Susan Collins was just one of the many Republicans who came under fire from John Oliver during Sunday's episode of "Last Week Tonight". He took his oaths of office in a private ceremony at the Supreme Court on Saturday evening.

"I´ve always been told it´s the biggest thing a president can do and I can understand that", he said. The president later hosted a reception at the White House for Sotomayor, as he did a year later with Kagan. The court's two oldest justices are Democratic appointees: Ruth Bader Ginsburg is 85 and Stephen Breyer is 80.
