Amazon refutes report on Portland's Elemental Technologies server hack

An explosive Bloomberg report claims that Chinese hackers were able to plant a tiny microchip in servers assembled by Supermicro Computers which were then used by tech giants like Apple and Amazon.

USA officials long have anxious about the potential for altered microchips or other components to be secretly inserted into products and shipped to the United States and elsewhere, opening doors to long-term spying on computer users and their information networks. Hardware hacks like this are incredibly hard to pull off, though when done right, it provides the hackers with an invaluable amount of information.

In addition to Apple and Amazon, nearly 30 companies were affected by the breach, including a major bank and government contractors.

Bloomberg quoted Super Micro as saying it was not aware of the issues described in the report.

Bloomberg claims the probe led to some companies removing servers made by Super Micro and ending business relationships with the company. The implanted chip was discovered back in 2015 by the USA intelligence services, however, both tech giants are said to have made discoveries of the chips at a similar time.

Trade deal's new name has Trump written all over it
Wildeboer said the tentative USMCA deal has succeeded where other pacts have not in protecting the North American supply chain. According to reports , the us and Canada agreed to a framework on an updated treaty.

"On this we can be very clear: Apple has never found malicious chips, "hardware manipulations" or vulnerabilities purposely planted in any server". It said it has never found any malicious chips, had not been informed that such chips were found by any customer, and never been contacted by government agencies on the matter.

"We remain unaware of any such investigation", a Super Micro representative says in response to the claims.

The chips on Elemental servers were created to be as inconspicuous as possible, according to one person who saw a detailed report prepared for Amazon by its third-party security contractor, as well as a second person who saw digital photos and X-ray images of the chips incorporated into a later report prepared by Amazon's security team. None of those servers have ever been found to hold malicious chips.

"We are not aware of any customer dropping Super Micro as a supplier for this type of issue".

Bloomberg said the retail-to-cloud computing company alerted U.S. authorities at the time, resulting in an inquiry and a string of firms cancelling Super Micro orders.

Liverpool's XI from their last match against Napoli, where are they now?
Liverpool came unstuck late on at Stadio San Paolo, as Lorenzo Insigne scored the winning goal for Napoli , who had been superior throughout.

The company instead suggested that Bloomberg's sources may have been mistaking an incident in 2016 when an accidental vulnerability was found on a single Super Micro server inside the company.

If you're two of the world's most popular and profitable companies - or, say, the United States government - a major intelligence attack by a foreign power is news worth denying, vehemently.

Security experts who have worked for government agencies and large corporations told Reuters that they were surprised by the stark discrepancy between the claims in the Bloomberg article and the strongly worded denials from Apple and Amazon.com Inc's (AMZN.O) Amazon Web Services.

The report claims that six current and former national security officials let slip the details on the investigation and its implications.
