Google’s Project Stream will allow real-time 1080p, 60fps gaming via a browser

Google’s Project Stream will allow real-time 1080p, 60fps gaming via a browser

Rumors were circulating for months that Google was reportedly working on its very own console, which would rely on game streaming technology. While Google's gaming system is far from being officially launched, the company just unveiled what seems like the first steps towards that.

Google is collaborating with the French video game colossus to use a new installment in the hit "Assassin's Creed" franchise to test the ability of Project Stream technology to provide the kind of quick, seamless play powered by in-home consoles as an online service.

While sadly limited to American sign-ups only and requiring a 25 megabit connection at minimum, Google are taking sign-ups for Project Stream now, and plan to begin limited testing on October 5th. Officially announced on the Google blog here, the unimaginatively named Project Stream claims it can push high-end games from Google's servers directly onto your browser screen with minimal lag.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is now available to those who have pre-ordered the Collector's Edition and Ubisoft has detailed its day-1 patch. As said services grow in popularity, it's no surprise to see Google enter the market for itself.

There are limited spaces available for Project Stream, but if you're interested in participating, you can apply on our website. By signing up for the Project Stream test run ahead of the start date, hopeful applicants can look to secure their spot in the Project Stream test.

The two firms will allow Assassin's Creed Odyssey to your Chrome browser on a laptop or desktop.

Striker Marko Arnautovic then put the game to bed three minutes later, sealing the win for his team. "That didn't happen. The performance on the pitch is a outcome of many factors and we all have to improve".

"Assassin's Creed Odyssey" is projected to release October 5 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

Playing video games over a live stream is nothing new, with Nvidia, Sony and even GameFly offering suitable services - but Google isn't impressed.
