Trump to UN: US Will Only Give Aid 'to Our Friends'

Trump to UN: US Will Only Give Aid 'to Our Friends'

Trump has pulled the USA out of a nuclear agreement with Iran while signing an agreement in principle with North Korea to abandon its nuclear program.

U.S. president Donald Trump today (September 25) praised India at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) for successfully lifting millions of citizens out of poverty.

Trump's declaration, which has become a frequent remark at his campaign rallies and public appearances, led to some laughs from the audience at the United Nations.

U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday said he would not meet Iranian President Hassan Rouhani as world leaders gathered in NY but signalled he was open to a future meeting. He was unapologetic about his decisions to engage with the erstwhile pariah North Korea, remove the US from the global Iran nuclear accord and object to United Nations programs he believes are contrary to American interests.

Trump echoed this in his speech and said that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will be looking into cutting USA foreign aid to countries who do not have "our interests at heart".

Trump said in Tuesday's speech to the U.N. General Assembly the U.S.is the world's largest donor of foreign aid "but few give anything to us".

Dominic Solanke is in line to feature against his former club but the game may come too early for Adam Lallana (groin). The ankle was his problem after the Everton game years ago, so he will be back, I'm pretty sure next week or so.

At the U.N., Trump seized his opportunity to assert American independence from the worldwide body.

Mr Trump, who said on Tuesday morning that he had given up hope for a meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani while both were in NY, said he would keep up economic pressure on Tehran to try to force a change in its behaviour. But even before his arrival for the annual bonanza of world leaders and diplomats, the desired image was muddied by confusion in Washington.

Trump earlier this year bucked allies and removed the USA from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, citing Iran's malign influence in the region and support for terrorist groups like Hezbollah.

In his address previous year to the UN, Trump insulted Mr Kim as a "rocket man" bent on nuclear destruction.

But returning to NY for this year's gathering, Trump hailed "tremendous progress" to halt Pyongyang's nuclear and ballistic missile tests and said that a year later it was a "much different time". Trump has also slashed countless regulations, which can be viewed here.

Russian Federation says ‘misled’ by Israel in plane downing over Syria
The Israeli military, however, said that Syria's indiscriminate air defense fire was the cause of the accident. National Security Advisor John Bolton called a " significant escalation " of the seven-year war.

Trump's denunciation of globalism drew murmurs from the room that stands as the very embodiment of the notion.

"As I have said repeatedly, regime change in Iran is not the administration's policy", Bolton told reporters.

Trump and Kim met in June in Singapore.

Tensions between the US and European nations over Trump's withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal could boil over at the General Assembly.

On Wednesday, Trump will chair for the first time a meeting of the U.N. Security Council on the topic of counter-proliferation. His four days of choreographed foreign affairs were created to stand in contrast to a presidency sometimes defined by disorder, but were quickly overshadowed by domestic political troubles.

The president slammed the Iran nuclear deal and said he's "committed to a future of peace and stability in the region, including peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians" before adding that "America's policy of principled realism means we will not be held hostage to old dogmas, discredited ideologies and so-called experts who have been proven wrong over the years time and time again".

Regarding Iran, the president indicated he won't be meeting with the Islamic Republic's leader, President Hassan Rouhani, until his nation renounced its "bloody agenda".
