Gunman kills 5, self in Southern California shooting attack

A gunman in the U.S. killed five people, including his wife, before turning the gun on himself as police closed in.

There was no immediate word on what sparked the shootings that took place at a home and a business in Bakersfield, which is some 90 miles north of Los Angeles.

The first man fatally shot the second, and then killed his wife as well.

Another man who was present for the initial shootings was also targeted, according to police, who say the suspect then entered a nearby residence, killing a man and woman inside. He pulled over. As the officer approached him with a gun drawn, the shooter stepped out of the vehicle, turned his gun toward his chest, and took his own life.

In January, Bezos also personally gave $33 million United States in college scholarships for young immigrants living in the USA illegally.

The man fled to nearby Breckenridge Road where he encountered two people before shooting them dead. Another man then appeared at the scene and the husband shot at him, before pursuing him and shooting him dead.

He resisted deputies' repeated demands that he drop the weapon as the police sirens wailing in the background add to the tense moments.

Detectives had a lot of work to do investigating the incident, which unfolded over half an hour within an area of several city blocks, said the sheriff, who has called such mass shootings the "new normal" in the United States.

Youngblood clarified that all those shot by the gunman were adults, but he didn't provide many more details.

83-Foot Wave Recorded By Satellite Monitoring Hurricane Florence
Rising tides moved closer to the dunes in Kill Devil Hills, N.C., on Thursday as Hurricane Florence approached the east coast. At 4am BST Wednesday the "monster" storm was centred 670 miles southeast of Cape Fear, North Carolina, moving at 17 mph.

They say he eventually hijacked a auto from a woman and child. The mother and child were able to escape unharmed, Youngblood said. Deputies say the gunman chased that third person to another location, where he shot and killed him.

The gunman then carjacked a vehicle and drove to a friend's business where a deputy confronted him.

Investigators are questioning around 30 witnesses in the case.

The woman had just filed for a hearing concerning child support and property values, Youngblood said. He said Cazarez and his estranged wife Petra went to TNT trucking to confront Valdez, an employee there.
