Ex-umpire: US Open umpire Carlos Ramos 'thrown under bus'

Voices in the tennis world have spoken out both in support and condemnation of US tennis champion Serena Williams after the angry outburst that cost her a game, and possibly the match, during her US Open final on Saturday.

Osaka and Williams were together after the match as Osaka was awarded the trophy for winning. "For me to say "thief", and for him to take a game, it made me feel like it was a sexist remark", she said, arguing that male athletes can and have said worse without receiving penalties. Viewers could not have guessed that she won by looking at her crestfallen, teary-eyed expression throughout the immediate aftermath of the match. Osaka previously said that she was happy to win her first Grand Slam.

It all started when chair umpire Carlos Ramos issued Williams with a warning for supposedly having gotten coaching via a hand signal from her coach Patrick Mouratoglou in the stands.

Valve complied with the BGC authorities in July when it released a CS:GO patch restricting players in Belgium and the Netherlands from opening loot boxes.

She also called Ramos a "thief" for taking a point from her. Visibly angered by the accusation, Williams confronted Ramos. Ramos penalized her a game for verbal abuse, something virtually unheard of in such an important match. The third and final penalty came as Williams continued to castigate the umpire, saying, "You stole a point from me".

In terms of global brand name recognition, the Nissan deal marks Osaka's biggest endorsement deal, with perhaps the exception of her existing Adidas work. "You owe me an apology!" she shouted repeatedly. "But in my mind, I really wanted to know what was going on".

On Monday, the International Tennis Federation said Ramos acted "at all times with professionalism and integrity", a statement welcomed by Ings, who was a professional chair umpire from 1986 to 1993.

Sam Darnold sure looks like the real deal
Some Jets say that Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford tipped them off with hand signals so they knew what play was coming. Until then, let's take a wait-and-see approach with Darnold and his future with the New York Jets .

World No. 25 Barbora Strycova has called out Serena Williams for her "bullsh-t" US Open blow-up that overshadowed 20-year-old Naomi Osaka's first grand slam victory.

But Ramos has finally broken his silence regarding the backlash, speaking to Portugal's Tribuna Expresso.

Despite being in tears on Saturday while receiving the trophy inside the Arthur Ashe Stadium in NY - after Williams' outburst at umpire Carlos Ramos, calling him a "liar" and a "thief" - Osaka said she holds no ill-feelings about what happened.
