Luis Enrique’s Spain routs Croatia in Nations League

Croatia suffered the biggest defeat in their history as Spain thrashed them 6-0 in Tuesday's Nations League match at Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero. Two matches, two convincing wins against top opponents in the UEFA Nations League.

Spain were in dreamland two minutes later as Asensio cheekily lofted a shot from 20 yards that ricocheted off the crossbar, before deflecting in off goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic for the third goal. The Oxford United forward tapped home in the 67th minute, 106... "We saw it as a challenge and these are two important victories".

Marco Asensio scored once and set up four more in Luis Enrique's second match in charge, as the World Cup finalists were run ragged in Elche.

Gov. Northam declares state of emergency for tropical storm Florence
Tropical storm force winds and some rain bands will likely begin Wednesday night, regardless of the actual landfall of the storm. Henry McMaster declared a state of emergency Saturday to give his state time to prepare for the possible arrival of a hurricane.

La Roja now top Group four in League A with six points, followed by England and Croatia respectively. Their inclusion made Luis Enrique the first Spain coach in 16 years to name six Real Madrid players in a starting lineup, making a mockery of fears in the Spanish media when he was appointed that he would discriminate against Real players over loyalty to his former club Barcelona.

Ivan Santini and Ivan Perisic missed good early chances before Spain seized control 23 minutes in, as Saul headed the ball in off the turf after being picked out by Dani Carvajal's sublime cross.

Speaking to reporters after Spain beat Croatia 6-0, Asensio said: "I've never had the intention to go anywhere".

Millions prepare for potentially catastrophic Florence
The weather system is now a category four storm carrying sustained winds of about 215km/h. A long recovery is predicted for the states after the major hurricane hits.

Belgium earned a comfortable win over Iceland thanks to a pair of goals by Romelu Lukaku and one from Eden Hazard.

He then added another two minutes later.

Spain manager Luis Enrique has rubbished suggestions that only one Barcelona player started in their UEFA Nations League match against Croatia exclusively because of hard feelings towards his former employers. Hamren made three changes to the side that lost to the Swiss with Runar Sigurjonsson, Emil Hallfredsson and Hordur Magnusson coming in for Rurik Gislason, Gudlaugur Victor Palsson and Bjorn Sigurdarson and his side looked much more stable in the opening exchanges. Yet despite missing one of their main playmakers, there was no lack of creativity in the side.
