Vegas Golden Knights give extension to Max Pacioretty

The Golden Knights acquired left winger Max Pacioretty from Montreal late Sunday in a trade that will bolster their roster with veteran experience. Third-liner Joel Armia was brought in via trade with the Winnipeg Jets, long-time Canadien and depth centre Tomas Plekanec was brought back on a one-year deal after being traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs at last year's deadline, centre Matthew Peca was signed away from the Tampa Bay Lightning, and winger Tomas Tatar and prospect Nick Suzuki came over in the Pacioretty trade.

After the trade Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin said the deal was contingent on Pacioretty signing an extension with the team.

"It was an ongoing thing all summer, so for it to finally be done, it puts closure to that chapter", Montreal forward Andrew Shaw said.

Apple set to launch dual-SIM iPhones this year
This goes against previous rumors that the largest iPhone would carry the "Max" moniker instead of plus, so take that as you will. As mentioned, Apple is expected to launch three new iPhones this year, and the cheapest one among the three is the iPhone 9 .

Pacioretty is going into the final season a six-year contract with a cap hit of US$4.5 million. "We think he is going to be a good fit".

McCarron, the Canadiens' first-round pick (25th overall) at the 2013 NHL Draft played 54 games last season with the Rocket, posting 7-17-24 totals and 121 penalty minutes. Over the past seven years, only two players (Alex Ovechkin and John Tavares) have scored more even-strength goals than Pacioretty. "Couldn't ask for better music, better atmosphere, better fans". The Canadiens showed no interest in signing him to an extension despite the CT native's oft-repeated claims that he and his family are happy in Montreal and wanted to stay here. Pacioretty will turn 30-years old in November. He could still go back to Owen Sound.

Overall Outlook: Bergeron is the No. 1 center on the Boston Bruins, the best two-way center in the NHL and a player that's certainly in the top-10 players in the entire NHL after a brilliant 15 years in the league.

Police respond to active shooter in downtown Cincinnati
Cincinnati Police say two additional victims were sent to area hospitals, but they do not have information on their conditions. Police Chief Eliot Isaac said the killer used a 9 mm handgun and was carrying magazines with some 200 rounds of ammunition.

Pacioretty missed the final four weeks of the season a year ago with a knee injury. The only surefire NHL-ready talent of the bunch is Tatar, 27, who has scored at least 20 goals in each of the past four campaigns, but in Suzuki and a second-round selection, Vegas has given up two significant assets.

"I'm not going to deny it, you guys; he didn't perform up to par in Vegas", Bergevin said.

From now until the beginning of training camp, Bruins Insider Joe Haggerty is profiling players who will be on, or have a chance to be on, the 2018-19 Bruins. When the Canadiens visited the city for the first time last season, he said the experience was unlike any arena in the National Hockey League. "That was a key that was very important to the organization and that's what we were able to get in Suzuki", Bergevin said. The 2017 first-round pick is considered a heady player whose smart brand of play makes up for what he might lack in size in his 5-foot-11, 183-pound frame. I can't say exactly where he'll be on the day he ends up playing for the Montreal Canadiens, but I'm confident that he's going to help us.
