Disney Stands By Its Original Decision and Will Not Rehire James Gunn

Gunn was sacked by Disney back in July for a series of offensive tweets posted a decade to six years ago, which included jokes about paedophilia, rape, and molestation.

Almost a month after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director James Gunn was sacked from the third installment in the franchise by Disney, the director's fans and coworkers are still not giving up on trying to convince Disney to hire him back, and recent reports claimed that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was even fighting to keep Gunn on board. Marvel Cinematic Universe boss Kevin Feige did not attend the meeting, and is said to stand by Disney's decision.

According to Variety, Gunn had a meeting with Disney chairman Alan Horn to "clear the air" - but still with the resulting decision that he won't be brought back to the film. It is being speculated that the studios are planning on retaining Gunn's script for the film, but are expecting the replacement director to spend time on a rewrite in order to put their own stamp on it.

Paul Manafort's attorneys rest without presenting evidence, witnesses
Longtime Manafort deputy Rick Gates said he teamed up with his former boss to commit crimes meant to protect Manafort's finances. Calk had hoped to land a Cabinet-level position in the new Trump administration, a former bank executive testified Friday.

Gunn has been writer and director of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise from the start, taking an obscure Marvel Comics title about a group of misfits and turning it into a space opera decked with comedy and retro music that made Pratt a major movie star.

Unfortunately, it looks as though the Marvel Studios President would not have been much help in the matter.

News of Disney committing to their decision (which many saw as hasty to begin with anyway), will no doubt disappoint those who'd hoped to see Gunn return to the franchise. Instead, it was exclusively decided by the higher-ups at Disney.

James Gunn is not coming back to Disney. Sources added that while it was rumored that Feige was pushing to bring Gunn back, Feige stands by the studio's decision to not bring back the "Guardians" director for the third installment.

It was previously reported that Marvel was trying to convince Disney to potentially re-sign Gunn in the wake of the controversy.
