YouTube Music Set to Get Improvements Every Two Weeks

YouTube Music Set to Get Improvements Every Two Weeks

Google's Android Clock app has a new feature that can make your wakeup a little more bearable: Spotify-powered music alarms. At least one feature - support for saving to local storage - is rolling out now.

This will work for both free or premium Spotify customers, although premium customers will have their usual ad-free experience and be able to pick specific tracks to start their morning (rather than recently played tracks or pre-made mixes). Thankfully, now it is possible thanks to Google Clock's integration with Spotify. That means you'll have the ability to specify whether you want to stream or download your songs in low, medium or high quality settings. This feature will be rolled out globally this week on Play Store and will be available on all devices running Android 5.0 Lollipop and above.

Cook dismissed the idea that Apple has to steal users from Spotify (which has 83 million paid subscribers) to compete, instead suggesting that the streaming music ecosystem still has room to grow. Roman said that, in the future, this could be fixed by adding a drop-down menu that'll filter out musicians you've followed on YouTube Music. Even if you're a loyal Google Play Music or YouTube Music user this is still good news because with Spotify free you won't be left out in the dark.
