Where to Watch The Century's Longest Lunar Eclipse

Where to Watch The Century's Longest Lunar Eclipse

Skygazers will be treated with the longest total lunar eclipse or "Chandra Grahan" of the 21st century that will take place on Friday, July 27 till wee hours of July 28.

Astronomers and stargazers across the world were mesmerised by the longest blood moon eclipse on Friday night, coinciding with Mars' closest approach in 15 years in a thrilling celestial spectacle.

The totality of this lunar eclipse will last about an hour and 43 minutes, but a partial eclipse before and after the total phase means the moon will spend almost four hours crossing the Earth's shadow.

This marks the second total lunar eclipse this year visible from Australia, with the next one predicted for 2021.

"The Earth doesn't rotate far enough this time around for anyone in North America - the United States and Alaska - to see the eclipse but there are other eclipses that we don't see, there's always a little bit of the Earth that misses out".

2nd LD: SpaceX launches 10 more Iridium satellites
The firm was also speculated to attempt to catch the rocket's fairing with a giant net stretched across a boat called Mr. Iridium Communications, in partnership with SpaceX , is prepping to launch 10 Iridium NEXT satellites.

Mesopotamians regarded the blood moon as an omen that the king would be attacked.

As with most eclipses, conspiracy theorists believe it is a sign of the end times and is referred to as the Blood Moon prophecy. "This does not herald the apocalypse: seeing a lunar eclipse and Mars in the sky is something people should enjoy rather than worry about".

As it rose, during this total eclipse, Earth's natural satellite turned a striking shade of red or ruddy brown.

No glasses are needed for the lunar eclipse due to its dimmer colour.

Even South America will see the final stages of the eclipse.

Trump, Juncker tout deal pulling back from US-EU trade war
The company credited Trump's tariffs on imported steel and aluminum for helping it re-open the steel mill east of St. Still, the EU's purchases won't come close to making up for Beijing's cutback in purchases of U.S. soybeans.

The term "blood moon" was popularised by Christian pastor John Hagee in 2013 following the release of the book Four Blood Moons, which highlighted a lunar sequence of four total eclipses that occurred in 2014/15. The moon passed in front of the sun, casting a 70-mile-wide shadow. Anyone in Ethiopia will have the best view of the eclipse though, according to NASA.

The entire eclipse can be viewed from Brunei until moon set at 6.23am, Hazarry said.

While the phrase "blood moon" doesn't actually appear at all in the Bible, there are three distinct mentions of the moon turning the color of blood - and they're all pretty similar.

Viewers received an extra treat, with Mars competing for attention, sparkling brightly. This will make the moon appear smaller than regular, and much smaller than it looks during the Super Moon (when the moon is at the closest point in its orbit from the Earth).

Aaron Ramsey 'unsure' of Arsenal future - Premier League 2016
It has been a tumultuous time recently for Mesut Ozil. "Under Jose, the [United] team was playing a bit differently". At one point the big screen showed the midfielder, and he received one of the biggest cheers of the game.
