Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan labels treatment of Mesut Ozil 'completely unacceptable'

Mesut Özil's decision to quit global football has polarised Germany over what the Arsenal player has claimed are racist attitudes towards him and other German footballers from Turkish backgrounds.

After 23 goals and 40 assists in 92 appearances for Germany, the loss of Ozil is a blow to Low, who deployed the Arsenal midfielder as his main playmaker. But it was definitely not what he wanted or expected from the 93-time Germany global. "I used to wear the German shirt with such pride and excitement, but now I don't", he said.

"Ozil has been playing s**t for years", he told SportBild.

This is because despite paying taxes in Germany, donating facilities to German schools and winning the World Cup with Germany in 2014, I am still not accepted into society.

Germany's Social Democrat Justice Minister Katarina Barley said: "It's alarming if a great German football player like Mesut Ozil no longer feels wanted in his country".

The German FA (DFB) rejected Ozil's accusations and called out the 2014 World Cup victor for his failure to provide answers regarding the controversial photograph of himself and Germany team-mate Ilkay Gundogan with Erdogan - who has been accused of abusing human rights laws and restricting the freedom of the press. Ozil said on Twitter he would have been "disrespecting the roots of my ancestors" if he had not met the Turkish president and it did not matter who was president.

Fiat Chrysler guru Sergio Marchionne in sudden exit
The sports vehicle maker also announced a replacement, naming Fiat Chrysler chairman John Elkann as his successor. Ferrari has named John Elkann as chairman and will propose to shareholders that Louis Camilleri be named as CEO .

The photograph which initially sparked the controversy featuring Ozil and Erdogan has been erected in its place.

He lamented a lack of support from DFB president Reinhard Grindel and said "I have two hearts, one German and one Turkish". Ozil said the meeting did not amount to any endorsement of Erdogan's policies and added that they had discussed football.

Whilst I attempted to explain to [President] Grindel my heritage, ancestry and therefore reasoning behind the photo, he was far more interested in speaking about his own political views and belittling my opinion.

"I will no longer stand for being a scapegoat for his incompetence and inability to do his job properly", Ozil wrote.

When Germany crashed out of the World Cup in Russian Federation after the knock-out stage, Ozil was made a scapegoat by some pundits in a group of senior players who failed to perform.

■ Ozil and Gundogan were jeered and whistled by travelling German fans during a 2-1 friendly defeat away to Austria in Klagenfurt on June 2, despite Ozil scoring the opening goal.

After Trump tweet, White House says Iran, not USA , is 'inciting'
Rouhani said . "America should know that peace with Iran is the mother of all peace, and war with Iran is the mother of all wars". Sunday. "Peace with Iran would be the mother of all peace and war with Iran would be the mother of all wars", Mr.

"Are there criteria for being fully German that I do not fit?" he asked. "Is it because I'm a Muslim?"

'It has never been a secret how special this number is to me, ' Ozil said earlier this month. Should my theory prove untrue, France will say that I am a German and Germany will declare that I am a Jew. "For me it didn't matter who was President, it mattered that it was the President".

Ozil went on to highlight the charity work he did while in Russian Federation, which included paying for surgeries for 23 children - a similar venture to one he undertook in Brazil during the 2014 World Cup.

"No-one questioned he was playing crap at the World Cup", he said.

Ozil posted three open letters to social media on Sunday, concluding with his resignation from worldwide football in which he hit out at the "racism and disrespect" he has been subject to. The statement didn't mention the car-maker by name but made a scathing reference to the German government ordering the company to recall more than 200,000 vehicles because of unathorised software devices.

Do you have stories, videos or pictures you would like to share with the world? Yet after my picture with President Erdogan, they took me out of the campaigns and cancelled all promotional activities that were scheduled. "I see few here who have really behaved correctly". Am I right in thinking this is worse than a picture with the President of my family's country?
