Lyon pull the plug on Liverpool's Fekir deal

A screenshot has been circulating on Twitter that shows Nabil Fekir in a Liverpool kit which appears to be the type of video the club uses to announce signings.

The two sides had been in talks over a deal for the playmaker worth £52.75m plus a maximum of £4.4m in add-ons but he will be staying with the Ligue 1 club. The Reds were hoping to conclude the deal before the French squad jets off for their final friendly before beginning their World Cup campaign.

However, it would appear Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas is likely to sell Fekir after the World Cup.

Shawn also took the stage for a performance of "Like to Be You" with co-writer Julia Michaels , as well as his "Perfectly Wrong". Bullock did not get into specifics about the sexist behaviour she was subjected to, though she said it had a lasting effect.

However, instead of the anticipated arrival of a club statement confirming the latest transfer coup, enough concerns materialised to ensure the signing did not progress as planned.

On Saturday, the club confirmed that Fekir will remain in Lyon, for next season at least: "Amid interest from Liverpool and other clubs, Olympique Lyonnais is delighted to confirm that our captain will be with us for the 2018/19 season when we will be competing in the Champions League".

However a statement from Les Gones on Friday, suggesting that media reports claiming a deal had been reached were false, cast doubt on a positive outcome for the Merseysiders.

LeBron James played in the National Basketball Association finals with a broken hand
All three championships have come against the Cavaliers , with the series clincher coming in Cleveland for the second time . Stephen Curry scored 37 points for the Warriors, while LeBron James claimed 23 in what could be his final Cavs game.

He came through Lyon's youth system and has made 153 appearances for the club, scoring 57 goals, having made his debut in 2013.

The collapse - for now at least - of Liverpool's move for Fekir will be a setback for Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool were keen to get a deal for Fekir over the line before the World Cup in Russian Federation, where he will be in the France squad, but that will not happen now and it remains to be seen whether this deal is revisited and revived later in the summer.

Gareth Southgate faces up to 'difficult' England decisions
It was his goal, however, that will make his claims for a starting place harder to ignore for Southgate. It wasn't the first team versus Nigeria (2-1 win) and a second team tonight.
