Donald Trump: Top economies should drop all tariffs

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau appeared to attempt a lighthearted moment at the G-7 Summit on Friday when he presented President Donald Trump with a framed photograph of a hotel and brothel once owned by Trump's grandfather in the Canadian province of British Columbia, the Washington Examiner reported.

He wrote on his Twitter profile: "Please tell Prime Minister Trudeau and President Macron that they are charging the USA massive tariffs and create non-monetary barriers".

Trump repeatedly attacked Canada on Twitter in the days leading up to the two-day summit in La Malbaie, Quebec with Trudeau and the leaders of Germany, France, Britain, Japan and Italy.

But Trump, who frames his trade moves as a fulfillment of his campaign promises, is vowing to hold firm, tweeting Thursday: "Take down your tariffs & barriers or we will more than match you!" He called many current tariffs on US goods and services "ridiculous".

The two-day summit in Canada has been marred by fears of a trade war and tit-for-tat exchanges of hostile tweets, with USA trading partners furious over Mr Trump's decision to impose tariffs on steel and aluminium imports from Canada, the European Union and Mexico as part of his "America First" agenda.

The EU said it will impose the "rebalancing" tariffs on about $3.3 billion (2.8 billion euros) worth of USA steel, bourbon, agricultural products including sweet corn, orange juice, cranberries and certain clothing made of cotton.

Sloane Stephens is seeking to win the second Grand Slam victory in her career following the US Open that she won previous year . Muguruzas last stand came at 4-all in the second set, a 13-minute game in which she held three break points.

He arrived to the meeting late and left early, holding a solo news conference Saturday morning where he gave the trade ultimatum and said the size of the US economy means other nations cant win a trade war. Bannon said China is "now on notice that Trump will not back down from even allies" complaints in his goal of "America First'".

Trump's press conference Saturday marked his first solo press conference since February 16, 2017. "We can't lose it", he said. "I think having Russian Federation back in would be a positive thing".

Earlier, German Chancellor Angela Merkel floated an idea to set up a mechanism to resolve trade battles with the United States and prevent future ones, according to a French official at the gathering.

Still, a French official said on Friday the United States and European Union would establish a dialogue on trade within the next two weeks, signalling a modest step forward for the bitterly divided allies of the G7.

"We are committed to permanently ensuring that Iran's nuclear program remains peaceful, in line with its global obligations and commitments to never seek, develop or acquire a nuclear weapon" the leaders said in the statement.

He said: "I have been Russia's worst nightmare".

Trump said at the White House just before departing.

"We had some hard conversations and some strong debate", she said at the end of two days' of impassioned argument vividly captured in an image of six of the G7 leaders confronting an isolated Trump.

Trudeau and Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland later tweeted photos of the women's empowerment meeting, showing Trump's empty chair. "We're looking for peace in the world, we're not looking to play games".

European leaders, who had met to coordinate how they would handle the combustible American president, pushed back hard, but also heaped praise on Trump, hoping to butter him up.

Other G7 leaders, including British Prime Minister Theresa May and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, have also spoken out against the US tariffs.

He left the summit four hours earlier than originally planned, and will miss key talks on the environment, including working sessions on climate change, clean energy and the health of the oceans.
