Porsche’s Mission E all-electric vehicle becomes the ‘Taycan’

"Our new electric sports auto is strong and dependable; it's a vehicle that can consistently cover long distances and that epitomizes freedom", says Oliver Blume, chairman of Porsche AG's executive board, in an offhand swat at the Tesla Model S.

The Taycan "must be a Porsche first", Stefan Weckbach, vice president of Porsche's battery electric vehicle program, told The New York Times recently.

Texas man almost dies after being bitten by severed snake head
Since their metabolisms are much slower than those of humans, their internal organs can stay alive for longer. If you thought cutting the head off a venomous snake made them safe to handle, think again.

Porsche's upcoming all-electric auto that the Volkswagen Group has pledged to spend more than $1 billion developing will be called Taycan-a name that the company says is roughly translated as "lively, young horse" in a nod to its iconic emblem. (It's a reference to the company's logo, with includes a leaping steed at its center.) "Our new electric sports auto is strong and dependable; it's a vehicle that can consistently cover long distances and that epitomizes freedom", said Porsche chairman Oliver Blume in a statement.

But Porsche's brand image is built on track performance not just straight line acceleration so, with the Taycan, Porsche promises a "level of continuous power that is unmatched by any other electric vehicle". But it will run on electricity. Porsche claimed this would allow the Taycan production vehicle to cover 0-62mph in under 3.5 seconds, hit a top speed of 155mph and cover upwards of 300 miles on a single charge.

Apple To Launch Operating System To Stop Tracking Browsing Habits 06/06/2018
But when a prompt ask users whether they want to be tracked or not in no uncertain language, most are going to say no. The result would make most Macs look identical, making it harder for individual devices to be identified, Apple said.

Over-the-air updates will be possible on the Porsche Taycan, upgrading on-board infotainment systems and safety tech, but also offering to boost power if the customer wishes. Porsche says a four minute charge will be good enough to deliver approximately 100 km (62 miles) of range. That's double what it had originally planned. First up will be new infrastructure to support the Taycan: a dedicated assembly area, electric motor manufacturing, and a new body shop, all in Stuttgart. The engine plant is being expanded to manufacture electric motors. The brand's first EV will feature 800V charging technology that is meant to future-proof the vehicle for several years after it hits the market.

By then, Tesla's production lines should have worked all the kinks out and be able to ramp up more quickly to a new model. A mix between the Model X and Model 3 , the Model Y will be officially announced in March 2019, according to Electrek .
