United States boxer Floyd Mayweather topped the Forbes rankings of the world's top 100 earning athletes after earning US$275m ($361m) for his match in August against UFC star Conor McGregor, who claimed fourth position on the rankings (Lionel Hahn/PA Wire).

Mayweather, Ronaldo and Tiger Woods are the only three athletes to have topped the list over the past 18 years, Forbes said.

Forbes' earnings figures include all prize money, salaries and bonuses earned between June 1, 2017 and June 1, 2018.

He earned a $275m (£205m) payday for his boxing match in August against UFC star Conor McGregor, who is number four on the USA business magazine's list.

Kohli is the only cricketer to feature in the top 100.
