Donald Trump slams Russian Federation investigation for costing taxpayers near $17 million

In a tweet on Saturday, Trump accused the justice department and the special counsel of leaking his letters to the media and repeated his criticism of the Russian Federation inquiry.

Mueller has been trying to interview Trump for months - and he told Dowd in March that he might subpoena the president. "He also has Constitutional authority to direct the Justice Department to open or close an investigation, and, of course, the power to pardon any person before, during, or after an investigation and/or conviction".

Both Sekulow and Sanders' claims, according to the letter published Saturday by the Times, are lies. Mueller has requested an interview with the president to determine whether he had criminal intent to obstruct the investigation into his associates' possible links to Russia's election interference. Trump, for his part, has a couple of times lambasted Mueller's investigation, calling it "witch hunt".

Trump weighed in on Saturday on Twitter, asking, "Is the Special Counsel/Justice Department leaking my lawyers letters to the Fake News Media?" Trump went on to say that authorities should instead be investigating what he called Democrats' corruption.

But the letter said Trump later added he wanted the Russian Federation investigation "to be absolutely done properly" and acknowledged firing Comey "might even lengthen out the investigation".

Mr. Trump's lawyers fear that if he answers questions, either voluntarily or in front of a grand jury, he risks exposing himself to accusations of lying to investigators, a potential crime or impeachable offense.

Euro rallies as Italy concerns fade, investors eye data
United States stocks were poised for a solid open, with Dow futures and the broader S&P 500 futures up 0.5 per cent. Japan's Nikkei 225 fell 0.6 percent to finish at 22,358.43 while South Korea's Kospi lost 0.9 percent to 2,457.25.

Mr. Trump's team has asked for a briefing about the informant, but Giuliani said Sunday that the president would not order the Justice Department to comply because it would negatively affect public opinion.

On both fronts, they have attacked the credibility of a key witness in the inquiry, the fired Federal Bureau of Investigation director James B. Comey; complained about what they see as investigative failures; and contested the interpretation of significant facts.

"Of course, the president of the United States is not above the law", Dowd and Sekulow wrote, "but just as obvious and equally as true is the fact that the president should not be subjected to strained readings and forced applications of clearly irrelevant statutes". They help underscore the legal battle now underway between the White House and the special counsel.

Trump to Disney CEO after 'Roseanne' scrapped: Where is my apology?
So why were they there? Roseanne Barr attends the premiere of ABC's revival of " Roseanne " in Burbank, California, on March 23. Ironically, Barr and Trump are quite similar-except Barr has some talent and skill.

In their letter, Trump's lawyers contested that account, but also argued that the president could not have been attempting to interfere in an investigation he was not aware was underway.
