Twitter to hide comments identified as 'trolling' from users

In a surefire move that'll surely curb internet bullying, Twitter announced on Tuesday that it is tweaking its algorithm to hide replies from trolls.

Twitter has made little effort to be transparent about the kind of signals it looks for when seeking to identify accounts that, in their words, "distort the conversation".

Accounts exhibiting suspicious behaviours would now be "less visible" on the platform, it said, particularly in public conversations and search results.

Twitter already ranks tweets in search and in conversations.

The company will now try to detect behavior patterns with human reviewers and machine-learning techniques that it has associated with trolls to crack down on them. In doing so, Twitter thinks it can proactively police its site without waiting for people to run into and report abuse.

Khloe Kardashian finally reveals the reason behind the name True Thompson
In an interview with Ross King, Khloe said that Cait may never meet her baby, True Thompson . An insider shared: "Khloe is feeling nothing but happiness right now".

Today we are introducing new behavior-based signals into how Tweets are organized and presented in areas like conversations and search.

"There are many new signals we're taking in, most of which are not visible externally", the post reads. Examples cited include whether or not a person has confirmed their e-mail address, if someone signs up for multiple accounts at the same time, behavior that could indicate a coordinated attack or accounts that repeatedly tweet or mention accounts that don't follow them. Twitter said it would also look at how these accounts interacted with and were linked to those users who violate Twitter's rules.

"Because this content doesn't violate our policies, it will remain on Twitter, and will be available if you click on "Show more replies" or choose to see everything in your search setting", it said in a blog post.

"The goal is to make sure that what we're showcasing isn't meant to distract from or disrupt the conversation", Del Harvey, Twitter's vice president of trust and safety, told reporters at a briefing.

"We want to take the burden of the work off the people receiving the abuse or the harassment", Dorsey said in a briefing with reporters.

Melania Trump expected to remain hospitalized for rest of the week
She underwent the surgery at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Centre in Bethesda on Monday, New York Post reported. Normally, this is an outpatient procedure, but the first lady will be recovering the rest of the week in the hospital.

This is to improve the health of the conversation and improve everyone's Twitter experience.

Twitter acknowledged it expects to make mistakes, and that the system will change, learn and improve over time.

However, the company acknowledged there was more work to do, and warned there would be "false positives" and missed incidents as the technology bedded in. "We are making progress as we go", Dorsey said.

"We're encouraged by the results we've seen so far, but also recognise that this is just one step on a much longer journey to improve the overall health of our service and your experience on it", they said.
