Manhattan nanny Yoselyn Ortega gets life in jail for murdering children

55-year-old nanny Yoselyn Ortega was found guilty of the murder of two children on April 18 as an insanity plea was ruled out by a jury. "We miss feeling their soft skin in our arms".

Stuart Silberg, the lead prosecutor, had urged the judge to sentence her to life without parole. Ortega, who's from the Dominican Republic, had been recommended by her sister, a nanny for another NY family, and her background and references were faked by her family.

Kevin Krim eviscerated Ortega for not pleading guilty and forcing the case into a courtroom.

Ortega had been working for the family for almost two years when she brought the two siblings to the back bathroom of their Upper West Side apartment and stabbed them to death. The parents hired her after a relative of Ortega's provided them with a fabricated reference claiming Ortega had nannied for a child of hers who never existed. "I ask for a great deal of forgiveness".

The children's father and Marina's husband, Kevin Krim, was returning home from a West Coast business trip when police reached him at John F. Kennedy International Airport to share the tragic news. "I wish my family had told them that I did not feel well", she said through a Spanish-English interpreter. She has never shed a tear for these children.

Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez says talks regarding his future are ongoing
Kicker say Bayern Munich are very much looking at Kenedy as a left back, and they point out Benitez sees the youngster playing further forward.

"The defendant's son, Jesus Frias, sat in front of a traumatized jury, winking and grinning at the jury members as if it were some kind of reality TV show he wants to win", the mom said. "It is right that she should live and rot and die in a metal case, like the ugly and dark shadow of Lulu and Leo's bright and shiny lights".

Ortega's lawyer said Ortega suffered from depression and anxiety disorders, and refused to take prescribed medications.

The nanny's lawyer had argued that Ortega was mentally sick and could not be held liable for the youngsters's deaths.

Over the eight-week trial, jurors were subjected to stomach-churning photos and testimony spanning the children's final moments, the family's heartbreak and Ortega's alleged descent into madness. Ortega was to have dropped off Lucia at her dance class, and Krim was to pick her up.

Ortega had worked for the Krims for some two years before she killed their babies.

Krim opened the door to the bathroom to discover the children's bodies stacked in the tub.

Medical experts testified that Lucia fought bravely and sustained more than 30 nicks, slices and stabs from Ortega.

Ortega cut them both across the throat leaving the children no chance for survival.

Marina first talked about the couple's only surviving daughter, Nessie, who was 3 when her siblings were killed.

"The defendant set out to destroy what Kevin and I created and built: an inspired, happy, thriving family", Marina Krim said.
