National Football League player Reid files lawsuit over anthem

Former San Francisco 49ers safety Eric Reid, who kneeled alongside and protested with former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, is filing a collusion grievance with the National Football League over his inability to get signed as a free agent.

Reid was one of the first players to kneel alongside Kaepernick, the ex-San Francisco 49ers quarterback who in 2016 started protesting during the anthem to raise awareness of social justice issues.

The former San Francisco 49er safety, the first teammate to kneel beside Kaepernick, has filed a collusion claim against the National Football League and has reportedly hired the same lawyer as Kaepernick, attorney Mark Geragos.

Reid has previously said he believes he could be looking for a job because of his protests. The 6-foot-1 safety totaled 67 tackles and 2 interceptions last season for the San Francisco 49ers.

The Royals are glad to have Salvador Perez back in the lineup after he missed the first three weeks of the season due to injury. The first-place Boston Red Sox will host the Kansas City Royals in the series finale Wednesday afternoon from Fenway Park .

Reid's only visit during free agency was with the Cincinnati Bengals, who reportedly wanted assurances from Reid that he would not participate in on-field activism. He has the same legal representation as Kaepernick does in his grievance suit.

"Our union supports Eric and we are considering other legal options to pursue", the NFLPA said.

Geragos confirmed the filing and the NFL declined comment on the matter, citing the confidentiality provision of the league's collective bargaining agreement, per Martin.

Reid, whose Niners contract expired after the season, met with the Bengals last month.

Giuliani: Trump repaid Cohen $130K for payment to porn star
Cohen had said previously: "Neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump campaign was a party to the transaction with Ms. Trump has told reporters that he was not aware of the payment and that he didn't know where Cohen had gotten the money.

Reid, alongside Colin Kaepernick, knelt during the Star-Spangled Banner during the 2016 season to protest racial inequality. "If you think is, then your mindset is part of the problem too".

"I don't think it will be in the form of protesting during the anthem".

Earlier in the offseason, Reid said he would stop kneeling during the anthem because the narrative around kneeling has changed.

Trump has regularly trashed players who took a knee during the anthem - in fact, he just went after them during a rally in MI last week.
