Larry Nassar's Former Boss Arrested On Multiple Charges

Convicted serial sexual predator Larry Nassar's supervisor William Derkey Strampel, 70, was arrested Monday afternoon on warrants issued by the Michigan Attorney General. The maximum penalty for the charges - misconduct in office, criminal sexual conduct and two counts of neglect of duty - ranges from a year to five years behind bars.

The Nassar scandal has reverberated far beyond MI, sparking investigations into why the U.S. Olympic Committee, the sport's governing body, USA Gymnastics and the university failed to investigate complaints going back years.

He was arraigned on Tuesday, March 27 in East Lansing.

Nassar continued to treat girls and women at Michigan State's clinic for another two years.

Nassar was sacked in 2016 for violating that rule.

During this time Nassar was able to molest several more women, according to the affidavit.

Kremlin denies claim Sergei Skripal asked Putin for pardon
Moscow has repeatedly denied responsibility for the March 4 attack on 66-year-old Mr Skripal and his daughter, Yulia , 33. An old school friend of the poisoned former Russian spy claims he "called [Putin] in 2012 and denied he was a traitor".

William Forsyth will provide the update around 11:30 a.m. and be joined by others from the Michigan Attorney General's Office and Michigan State Police. And a teen's 2004 complaint to Meridian Township police also led to no charges after Nassar offered an aggressive defense and insisted he was using a legitimate medical technique. Two accused him of grabbing their buttocks without consent.

Asked a student: "What do I have to do to teach you to be submissive and subordinate to men?"

The attorney for a Michigan State University official denies that his client inappropriately touched medical students or received sexual favors in exchange for boosting their standing in school.

It said the computer also had a video of Nassar "performing a "treatment" on a young female patient". It appeared he had tried to delete those photos.

Forsyth did not take questions from media members gathered at the press event Tuesday, saying the investigation was ongoing.

Strampel announced his leave of absence as college dean - for medical reasons - in December.

"William Strampel did not act with the level of professionalism we expect from individuals who hold senior leadership positions, particularly in a position that involves student and patient safety", Engler said last month.

Andrea Bitely, a spokeswoman for the MI attorney general's office, which is overseeing the investigation of the university, declined to provide any information about Dr. Strampel's arrest, but said he would be arraigned on Tuesday afternoon in East Lansing.

One of them said that after she was summoned by Strampel for falling asleep in class in 2011, he told her she would never make it in the profession if she didn't dress sexier. "We pleaded privately and publicly for an independent investigation in February of 2017". "Those requests fell on deaf ears until the entire country was exposed to this disaster through the victim impact statements of more than 250 women". One woman who was allegedly groped in 2010 said she "did not want to be thrown out of medical school" for reporting the incident. "It was nearly like he took pride in it", she said. They say he even put in new protocols for Nassar in 2014 after a complaint.

Strampel then agreed to let the student take the exam a third time, but said she would need to do whatever he wanted as a result. "I just looked at his wife and said, 'Hello, Mrs. Strampel, '" Eastman said.
