Israel's Netanyahu questioned for second time in corruption probe

ISRAELI police arrived at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Jerusalem residence this morning to interrogate him over one of several graft cases that threaten to topple him, said Israeli media.

Police were seen arriving at Netanyahu's residence Monday morning. This is the Netanyahu's tenth interrogation since 2017 and second in 2018.

In return, Bezeq's news site, Walla, allegedly provided positive Netanyahu coverage.

It's the second time that Netanyahu, who held the communications portfolio until a year ago, is being questioned over the affair.

However, surveys also show that about half of Israelis believe the police over Netanyahu and think he should step down.

The two are accused of being involved in the promotion of regulation valued at hundreds of millions of dollars to Israel's telecom giant, Bezeq, of which Elovitch is a major shareholder. Shlomo Filber, the former director general of the Communications Ministry, and Nir Hefetz, a former spokesman of Netanyahu, have agreed to serve as the regime's witnesses in the case.

In return, police say Netanyahu operated on Milchan's behalf on U.S. visa matters, legislated a tax break and connected him with an Indian businessman.

Separately, Hefetz is suspected of attempting to bribe a judge in exchange for dropping a corruption case against Netanyahu's wife.

On February 13, police recommended that Netanyahu be indicted in two cases, though the attorney-general has yet to decide whether to do so.
