One dead, after bus carrying Houston students plunges into Alabama ravine

It was not immediately clear what caused the bus to veer off the road.

The bus was traveling eastbound from Texas when it crashed on I-10, Anthony Lowery of the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office told ABC News.

"We are deeply saddened for this loss", First Class Tours said in a statement. She said he wasn't one of those that were injured.

"We have multiple injuries; the bus went down into a ravine", said Chris Elliott, a Baldwin County commissioner who helped out at the county emergency management center following the crash. The driver was killed, said Capt. John Malone, who commands state troopers in the Mobile district.

Rabada help South Africa keep Australia in check heading into fourth day
On Sunday, Rabada clean-bowled Warner for 13 with a superb delivery that jagged back into the left-hander and hit his off-stump. Khawaja completed his half-century as Australia went past the deficit and soon claimed the lead.

One person - the bus driver - died in the crash, according to officials.

Around 60 first responders were on the scene of the crash, Loxley Fire Department Chief Lovell said.

The bus was one of two carrying Channelview Falcon Band members and chaperones back to their community, about 20 miles (32 km) east of Houston, after a long weekend trip to Disney World in Orlando, Florida, said Marcus Kramer, a spokesman for the Channelview school district.

Only hours before the crash, the band's Facebook page had been updated to show a large group posing outside Disney World, where the band performed at a music festival on Saturday.

A second bus on the spring break trip, driving ahead of the one that crashed, is continuing on to Texas, the sheriff said. He said he did not know how many passengers were injured, but said they were "numerous". The roof of the bus also appears to be damaged. Medical officials said at least 37 people, a lot of them teenagers, were treated at hospitals or other facilities in Pensacola and southwest Alabama for injuries that ranged from minor to very serious. Temperatures were in the 40s at the time of the wreck, which happened around 5:30 a.m. "But from when I got the call this morning and from what I saw, thank God were blessed and our students are better than what we anticipated", said Ollis.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott offered his condolences to those affected by the crash, saying in a statement: "I pray for a speedy recovery for all those injured, and I am especially grateful for the heroic actions of the Alabama first responders that undoubtedly helped save lives today". "In fact, it's in route to Texas as we speak".

The crash and rescue effort closed down Interstate 10 in both directions near the Florida state line.
