Philippines Terrorist Petition Virtual Hit List

Duterte's attacks against UN human rights activists suggest he needs to see a psychiatrist, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein told a news conference on Friday after the Philippine leader criticized UN special rapporteurs.

The UN Human Rights Office has been following Rodrigo Duterte's controversial war on drugs, which they believe has led to the death of thousands of people suspected of having ties to drug cartels. "I'm very tempted to respond in similar language but I have opted to restrain myself, opting not to respond in the same ad hominem used by the UN High Commissioner", Roque said.

In addition, the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights said Duterte should undergo a psychiatric examination.

"This is of course unacceptable for a special rapporteur acting on behalf of the worldwide community whose expertise is sought by the Human Rights Council to be treated in this way", the High Commissioner said.

Bannon tells French far right 'tide of history is with us'
The new name would need to be approved by party members in a mail vote and it is unclear whether it will be accepted. The National Front is seeking to rebound after a major electoral loss in France's national election previous year .

Local and global human rights groups condemned the petition filed by the Department of Justice that seeks to brand 600 people as terrorists, including UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Victoria Tauli-Corpuz.

The human rights group Karapatan named roughly a dozen other human rights advocates who were on the list, and Karapatan General Secretary Cristina E. Palabay said that the list was "severely defective as it contains scores of aliases (aka), John and Jane Does so any person can be added later".

"Human rights, human rights, son of a bitch, human rights", Duterte said angrily in a mix of Filipino and English.

"This is of course unacceptable for a special rapporteur acting on behalf of the global community whose expertise is sought by the Human Rights Council to be treated in this way", Zeid said.

The justice department last month filed a petition in a Manila court seeking the declaration of more than 600 alleged communist guerrillas as "terrorists", according to the document seen by Reuters.

"The world actually needs more Dutertes", Cayetano said, describing the Philippine president as a leader with empathy who's ready to sacrifice his life to protect the people.

"The president has himself publicly intimidated special rapporteurs", he said, calling on the government to drop the "unfounded accusations".

The Philippines welcomed a United Nations investigation into Duterte's signature war on drugs, but objected to Callamard leading it.

"Contrary to the impression of the High Commissioner, Ms. Victoria Tauli-Corpuz was included in the list not because of her position as Special Rapporteur but because of her alleged links with the Ilocos-Cordillera Regional Committee (ICRC) of the CPP-NPA, which, if the High Commissioner is not aware of, is in the list of foreign terrorist organizations of both the United States and the European Union", he pointed out.

In an exchange with Manila's envoys in the UN Human Rights Council on Thursday, Zeid referred to November media reports from the Philippines that quoted Duterte threatening to slap Callamard, while using profanity.
