India vs Bangladesh 2nd T20I : India defeats Bangladesh by 6 wickets

Shikhar Dhawan continued his good form as India beat Bangladesh by six wickets in the second T20I at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Thursday. As for Bangladesh, this was the first game of their campaign.

Earlier, India's young bowling unit got its bearings back with a disciplined effort to restrict Bangladesh to a modest 139/8.

Vijay Shankar was again unlucky in his final over, when he sprinted around 35 metres towards vacant on side trying to latch onto a catch off his own bowling.

Bangladesh stand-in captain Mahmudullah failed to have an impact as he was sent packing by Shankar for one run.

Jaydev Unadkat, who took three wickets, was inconsistent throughout his four-over spell with a mixture of good deliveries followed by half trackers. He and Dhawan forged a match-winning partnership of 68 runs before Rubel Hossain took his wicket, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz taking a wonderful catch. They did took only four wickets of the team.

Winning the toss, the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma invited Bangladesh to bat first.

"We should have scored a lot more runs, probably 30 more runs".

India innings: Rohit Sharma bowled Mustafizur 17, Shikhar Dhawan c Liton Das & b Taskin Ahmed 55, Rishabh Pant bowled Rubel 7, Suresh Raina c Mehidy Hasan & b Rubel 28, Manish Pandey not out 27, Dinesh Karthik not out 2. But Mustafizur Rahman had other plans for him and had him clean bowled in the fourth over. The batsmen have not been able to rotate the strike enough in the middle overs, stopping them from putting up competitive scores. The testimony to the better performance was as many as 55 dot balls (9.1 overs). I think we are just one win away from getting a boost.
