Barbie dolls will now look like the sheroes we look up to

The dolls are coming out in honour of International Women's Day tomorrow, Barbie has noted, and they have said on Twitter that "we are committed to shining a light on empowering female role models past and present in an effort to inspire more girls". And "Wonder Woman" movie director Patty Jenkins.

There are some new Barbies in town - just in time for International Women's Day.

The line of dolls featuring contemporary real-life role models, being introduced by Mattel in honor of International Women's Day on Thursday, also includes soccer star Sara Gama, designer Vicky Martin Berrocal and dancer Yuan Yuan Tan.

The flyweight, who retained her Olympic crown in 2016 before turning professional a year later, says she hopes the doll - which comes complete with a boxing robe and gloves - will promote positive role models to younger generations.
