Jared Kushner's Ties to Banks Under Scrutiny

New York's banking and insurance regulator has asked Deutsche Bank and two NY lenders for information related to their dealings with Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump's son-in-law and a White House senior adviser, according to a person familiar with the investigation, but who is not authorized to speak publicly on the matter.

According to the report, Joshua Harris, the founder of Apollo Management - whose loan refinanced the mortgage on Kushner's Chicago skyscraper - who was advising Trump administration on infrastructure policy, also met with Jared Kushner past year.

Last spring, Citigroup chief executive Michael Corbat met with Kushner at the White House for a policy discussion.

The Washington Post reported on Tuesday that U.S. officials had intercepted conversations among officials from at least four foreign governments - China, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Mexico and Israel - about using business opportunities to seek leverage over Mr Kushner. Visit MarketWatch.com for more information on this news.

The report didn't say what the new information about Kushner was.

We are deeply disappointed in the behaviours of these individuals. "We take this situation, obviously, very seriously. However, until we know the results of the investigation, we're not really in a position to comment much further".

The funding from Apollo Global Management went toward the Kushner Company's mortgage on a Chicago skyscraper, while the loan from Citigroup was used for the Kushner Company's Brooklyn office buildings. Apollo Global Management lent the Kushner Cos. Reports have indicated Mueller has interest in Kushner's interaction with a Chinese company during the transition, Anbang Insurance, which was considering investing in the Kushner Cos. -owned 666 Fifth Ave. property in Manhattan.

President Donald Trump's son-in-law and top adviser Jared Kushner had his security clearance downgraded on Friday due to alleged efforts by foreign countries to influence him, according to a report in the Washington Post. "Stories like these attempt to make insinuating connections that do not exist to disparage the financial institutions and companies involved", she said.

Peter Mirijanian, a spokesman for Kushner's lawyer Abbe Lowell, said Kushner has had no role in Kushner Cos since joining the government.

Christine Taylor, a spokeswoman for Kushner Cos., said the company has not received a copy of the letter from the DFS.

The Kushner family has repeatedly sought Israeli investors for their real estate company, and Kushner's business ties to Israel are considered extensive.

The question is whether exposure to those toxic metals, at the level found in normal, everyday e-cigarette use, is risky . Half of the aerosol samples had lead concentrations higher than limits set out by the Environmental Protection Agency.

Kushner's contacts with foreign officials are now under investigation by US special counsel Robert Mueller, who has been probing Russia's interference in the last presidential election since May 2017.

The couple sold off some of their assets before starting their White House jobs a year ago, but Kushner still has stake in hundreds of companies.

But the complicated finances surrounding the Kushner family's vast real-estate empire and his qualifications for the foreign policy responsibilities given to him by his father-in-law invited scrutiny from the start.

Kushner last Friday was informed that his temporary security clearance was downgraded from Top Secret/SCI-level to Secret level, cutting him off from classified information he had been accessing as his background check by the Federal Bureau of Investigation dragged on.

It also stated that information regarding the family members was also requested.
