Facebook Removes VR Shooting Game Demo at CPAC for Parkland Victims

Some were offended by this choice, given the closeness to the school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla.

Bullet Train is the latest VR experience from Epic Games, creators of the popular Showdown VR demo.

The Menlo Park social media giant, according to website ThinkProgress, had for the second year paid for a booth at the Conservative Political Action Conference - the annual right-wing gathering where President Donald Trump on Friday repeated his call to arm teachers in the wake of the Parkland school shooting February 14.

Supermodel Emily Ratajkowski Just Got Secretly Married
Shortly after, she was spotted engaging in some PDAs on Valentine's Day with actor/producer Sebastian Bear-McClard. The Sun Online reported how Emily and her previous boyfriend Jeff had split just after Christmas.

On Facebook and Instagram, which is owned by Facebook, searches for the hashtag #crisisactor, which accused the Parkland survivors of being actors, turned up hundreds of posts perpetuating the falsehood (though some also criticised the conspiracy theory). So the Facebook team swiftly removed the Oculus Rift station from their booth.

This is the same conference that the National Rifle Association shot off an impassioned speech about gun rights, making the tension felt everywhere seem even more prevalent.

"We removed the demo & regret failing to do so at the start". Developed by Epic Games, the experience is now available for free on Facebook's Oculus Rift.

U.S. levies heaviest-ever sanctions on the North
She was hosted in Seoul by President Moon Jae-in, who has long advocated talks rather than confrontation with North Korea. The North is expected to send a high-level delegation to attend the closing ceremony of the Winter Games.

Facebook showed a violent virtual reality game demonstration in its kiosk at a conservative political conference near Washington, then removed the demo out of respect for recent school shooting victims in Florida after at least one attendee shared a video of it on Twitter. "A few of the action games can include violence", Barra said in an emailed statement to USA TODAY. The social media site has more recently been used to spread cooked-up conspiracy theories against Parkland students advocating for gun control.

Facebook's vice president of virtual reality, Hugo Barra, apologized for the demos of violent virtual reality games including "Bullet Train" during CPAC.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg responded to critics by saying he was attempting to use virtual reality to evoke empathy and raise awareness about the disaster.
