Jessica Buckner, an audit team lead at a Sam's Club location in Anchorage, told local TV station KTVA that all Alaska stores are closing as part of a larger downsizing across the U.S. The company did not respond to CBS News' request for a comment, and did not elaborate on how many stores would be closed and when. The Illinois stores that are affected include Batavia, Matteson, Moline, Naperville, Streamwood, Wheeling and Romeoville.

As for the employees, a spokesperson said that they will be paid for two months, along with a bonus and an attempt to relocate them to other stores.
