Myanmar admits killing 10 Rohingya Muslims found in mass grave

Fortify Rights, Amnesty International, and Human Rights Watch described the admission that ethnic Rakhine villagers and security forces killed 10 Royingya Muslims in Inn Dinn village on September 2, 2018 as the "tip of the iceberg", and urged an international investigation.

Myanmar's military had denied any wrongdoing in the crackdown that began in late August and sparked a mass exodus of civilians across the border to Bangladesh.

Amnesty International has reiterated a call for an independent investigation into rights abuses in Myanmar's Rakhine state after the country's army admitted its soldiers were involved in the murder of 10 Rohingya. Until now, the military has maintained that it is carrying out legitimate counterinsurgency operations.

Myanmar and Bangladesh signed an agreement on the repatriation of Rohingya refugees on November 23, and Myanmar said it would start the process by January 23.

Hemsworth presented the best actress award to an absent Frances McDormand for " Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri ". Call Me by Your Name and Get Out claimed film screenplay honours, the latter winning best sci-fi/horror film as well.

The village of Inn Din previously featured in a chilling report by Amnesty International, which contains eyewitness accounts from seven villagers who described how vigilantes and the military looted and burned homes and shot people as they fled.

Myanmar officials refer to the Rohingya as Bengalis, a pejorative term used to imply they are illegal immigrants from Bangladesh.

The military's statement on Wednesday said due to ongoing attacks, security forces deemed it impossible to bring the 10 men to the police station and decided instead to execute the suspects at the village cemetery on the morning after their capture.

Ten of the attackers were captured after the security forces drove the rest off by firing into the air, according to the statement.

About 3000 Ford Rangers Recalled Over Explosion Dangers In Air Bags
A Takata spokesman said the company will make all attempts to ensure it can deliver replacement inflators as soon as possible. Of the 391,000 recalled, the new warning involves 2,900 vehicles, including 2,700 in the US and almost 200 in Canada.

The Facebook statement goes on to say that the militant attacks had destroyed their military vehicles with explosives (despite having just noted that they were armed with melee weapons).

"It was found that there were no conditions to transfer the 10 Bengali terrorists to the police station and so it was made a decision to kill them". "This incident happened because ethnic Buddhist villagers were threatened and provoked by the terrorists".

It said the 10 had been captured after security forces had come under attack from around 200 insurgents.

Anti-Rohingya sentiment is high not only among the military, but the general population, among whom a form of Buddhist nationalism has seen a resurgence since the end of military rule. However, it is only the tip of the iceberg and warrants serious independent investigation into what other atrocities were committed amid the ethnic cleansing campaign that has forced out more than 655,000 Rohingya from Rakhine State since last August.

White House denies FISA confusion
The president appeared to both criticize and back the legislation, which the House reauthorized by a vote of 256-164 Thursday. She suggested reporters were the only ones left confused, prompting Trump to issue a second tweet almost two hours later.

Human rights organization Amnesty International claimed the admission exposes the extrajudicial killings of Rohingya, marking a "sharp departure from the army's policy of blanket denial of any wrongdoing".
