India launches Cartosat 2 Series satellite, 29 others

PSLV C40 is carrying 28 satellites from six countries, which include Canada, Finland, France, Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States.

The Indian Space Research Organisation's (ISRO's) today gave what it called a "new year's gift to India": The launch of its 100th satellite on board on a Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) rocket. "Subsequently, however, India made it clear that it would build, launch and operate the satellite exclusively", Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakaria had said.

Built by ISRO, the Cartosat-2 series satellite is an earth observation satellite, which will help India observe the earth and relay high-resolution scene-specific spot images. The last launch of IRNSS-1H - India's first privately built satellite - on August 31 a year ago had failed because of a freak accident.

Darrell Bevell fired as offensive coordinator of the Seahawks
It was the Seahawks' final offensive play of Super Bowl XLIX three years ago that drew the most heat from Seahawks fans. It's part of the reason Seattle's run game was so dominant in those four seasons.

Today's satellite launch took place after a failed launch four months before.

Meanwhile, the launch also marked the national space agency's foray into small satellite market. The rocket's shield had failed to separate, due to which the satellite could not launch.

The total weight of all the 31 satellites carried on-board PSLV-C40 is about 1,323 kgs. As ISRO successfully launched the PSLV-C40/Cartosat-2 Series Satellite on Friday, Pakistan raised questions over the usage of the satellite by India.

Flu-Related Deaths Reported in Tarrant County
Schneider said the rise in positive flu cases could be attributed to better reporting on the physicians' part. The flu can lead to complications like pneumonia, dehydration and worsening of chronic medical conditions.

A microsatellite of India would be orbited after about 90 minutes following the re-ignition of the fourth stage, Kumar said.

The launch is estimated to take 7 minutes and 15 seconds, and the telecast will be both in Hindi and English. "We have some exciting launches coming up including Chandrayaan 2, GSLV MKIII and GSLV MKII" said Isro chairman-designate K Sivan.

The 28 global customer satellites were launched as part of the commercial arrangements between ISRO and its commercial arm Antrix Corporation Ltd.

Widespread Flu Hits Earlier This Season
What ways can you prevent the spread of the illness? If you have not gotten a flu shot, it's late, but it is not too late. And since the flu season could last well into March or April, there's still plenty of time for it to make a difference.
