Police in India arrest man for stalking Sachin Tendulkar's daughter

A man from West Bengal has been arrested for stalking the ace cricketer Sachin Tendulkar's daughter Sara.

As per the reports, a special team of Mumbai police arrested 32 years old man from Mahishadal on Sunday.

Responding to the complaint, the police traced the number to West Bengal's Midnapore district, and sent a team of five policemen to arrest Maity. The accused is a school dropout and unemployed.

He then called made 20 phone calls to Tendulkar's residence and expressed his desire to marry Sara. The family members of the accused in their statement claimed that he was mentally ill for years and he often tortured his parents. The stalker was able to get his hands at Sachin's residence number and was harassing his daughter for a long time. When asked how the accused got access to the phone number, the police officer said: "He somehow managed to get the contact details".

"I saw her on TV sitting at the pavilion during a match and fell in love".

Police have found a diary from his house in which he has called Sara as his wife. He lost his father recently. He was also undergoing treatment due to loss of mental balance.

The 21-strong crew aboard the Hong Kong-registered CF Crystal have all been rescued and the ship was not severely damaged. The tanker had been sailing to Daesan, South Korea from Kharg Island, Iran, according to Reuters ship tracking data.

According to the Hindustan Times newspaper, Mr Maity had referred to Mr Tendulkar as his "father-in-law".

Maity is expected to appear at the Haldia Court later today, after which he will be taken to Mumbai via transit demand. A medical examination will take place to prove if that's true or not.
