The United States on Wednesday urged Kenyan opposition to pursue electoral reforms within the country's laws and to avoid extra-constitutional actions such as the proposed "inauguration ceremony" slated for December 12.

Raila said the Americans have no right to dictate to him what he should do, terming as hypocritical and unacceptable their statement in which the USA urged Opposition leaders "to work within Kenya's laws to pursue the reforms they seek and to avoid extra-constitutional actions such as the proposed "inauguration ceremony" on December 12".

The United States has asked Kenyan opposition leader Raila Odinga to call off his planned swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday next week, Kenya's Daily Nation reported on Wednesday. It came as the top US official for African affairs, Donald Yamamoto, visited the East African economic hub and met with government officials and opposition leaders.

Mr Odinga has maintained that he won the August 8 presidential election and that his victory was stolen.
