The man charged in connection with the death of 3-year-old Mariah Woods is making his first court appearance this morning. Positive confirmation of the identity of the remains will be made by the Medical Examiner's Office.

"Allow us to review it to determine if it is of investigative value", FBI agent Stanley Meador said.

Earl Kimrey is being held on $1 million bond and others in the community say they are focused on grieving for Mariah and making sure justice is served.

Authorities in Onslow County charged Kimrey with concealing of death; obstruction of justice, second-degree burglary, felony larceny, and possession of stolen property. "The defendant acted with deceit and intent to defraud". The warrant also said he secretly disposed of the body, according to the News & Observer.

Woods said she put her daughter to bed at around 11 p.m. on Sunday, and said her boyfriend saw the girl about an hour later when the child got up and he had told her to go back to bed, WRAL, an NBC affiliate in Raleigh, North Carolina, reported.

Mariah's father, who has been involved in a custody dispute with her mother, has criticized her version of events.
