The sixth and final season of Netflix's landmark drama was suspended in October after actor Anthony Rapp came forward with sexual assault allegations against Spacey.

Season 6 of the political thriller will be eight episodes, starring Robin Wright, Sarandos said. It is not known when the eight-episode series will air.

The 200-member crew of the hit drama has been on a paid hiatus since early November as Netflix and Media Rights Capital tried to sort out the future of the show without its star.

Production is still on pause for the rest of the year, though. Sarandos did not say how the dismissal of Spacey's character, Frank Underwood, will be handled.
