Vitter, Bjork speak on NCAA infractions case in press conference

Ole Miss was hit by the NCAA with a two-year bowl ban and other major sanctions, including 13 scholarship deductions, on Friday.

And a couple hours after the NCAA issued its findings and the sanctions for the Ole Miss football program, former Rebels head coach Hugh Freeze has responded to the ruling and punishment with a statement.

The NCAA spent almost four years digging in the dumpster of Ole Miss' athletic culture, a trash heap soaked in misplaced blame, delusional defiance and outright lies, and came out the other side Friday with a clear message.

All the way up until Thursday night, even as the NCAA's enforcement staff had alleged 21 violations related to the football and made clear in its case that it had the goods on Ole Miss, the school's leadership and some of its media sycophants were unrepentant about their own school's behavior.

Taxpayer-owned RBS is closing 259 branches around the country
DINNINGTON'S NatWest bank is set for the axe after parent company RBS said it planned to cut branches and jobs across the country. It said more than five million customers now used its mobile banking app and one in five only bank with RBS digitally.

"When the facts did not support allegations or we thought the process was unfair, we challenged the NCAA", Bjork said.

The university's athletic leaders appeared in front of the NCAA committee on infractions in Covington, Kentucky, on September 11-12.

Bjork added that citing a rules violations case from more than 30 years ago "is not applicable to our current case". In three interviews with enforcement officers previous year, the sophomore Bulldogs linebacker said that during his recruitment he received free Ole Miss merchandise, free food and cash payments amounting to $10,000 from a prominent Rebels booster.

"We are deeply disappointed and angered by the additional penalty of the 2018 postseason ban", Vitter said. The show cause means any school wanting to hire Freeze and those coaches would have to appear before the infractions committee.

Ole Miss officials are expected to address the NCAA's sanctions at a press conference Friday afternoon. But while it is a sad day for Ole Miss, it is also Day One of recovering and building for the future.

Ole Miss reached the.500 mark after beating Mississippi State 31-28 on Thanksgiving. Vitter and Bjork disagreed with the additional bowl ban.

Matt Luke guided the Rebels to a 6-6 record this season after taking over for Freeze.

It's finally over: a look back at the 2017 hurricane season
On September 20, the storm made landfall in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, as a Category 4 hurricane with winds up to 155 miles per hour . The reported death toll from 2017's Atlantic storms now stands at 438 people, although the actual number could be higher.

"While we continue to review the full report, we will vigorously appeal the 2018 postseason ban", the school said in response to the NCAA's release.
