Apple Inc on Wednesday filed a countersuit against Qualcomm Inc, alleging that Qualcomm's Snapdragon mobile phone chips that power a wide variety of Android-based devices infringe on Apple's patents, the latest development in a long-running dispute. It claimed Cupertino's iBling infringed six patents, mostly concerning saving battery life, and even called for a full-on ban. The other two cases are civil patent infringement lawsuits. Apple denied it infringed on Qualcomm's copyrighted materials. Apple has refuted the assertions that it breached battery life patents of Qualcomm and charged that Qualcomm's patents were worthless, a common step in such instances.
