U.S. investigator Mueller probing Kushner's contacts with Israelis

Two Republicans close to Trump said the president has been frustrated with Kushner's advice to back Luther Strange and fire former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey. On May 18, Rosenstein announced that Mueller would work as a special counsel to determine the extent of the Trump campaign's alleged ties to Russian Federation and whether or not the president obstructed justice by firing Comey, according to The Washington Post.

Robert Mueller's investigation is now moving to Jared Kushner's interactions with foreign leaders during the presidential transition (between the November 8, 2016 election and the January 20, 2017 inauguration), with an emphasis on his attempt to prevent President Barak Obama's parting shot at Israel at the United Nations Security Council in December, when the U.S. abstained in a landmark resolution demanding a halt to all Israeli settlement in the "occupied territories", the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday.

In an 11-page statement issued in July, Kushner said that he and Gorkov did not discuss sanctions or his family real-estate business in their brief-sit down at the end of previous year, but Mueller's team has reportedly questioned those around Kushner regarding the meeting.

Kushner is a main focus of Mueller's probe into a June 2016 Trump Tower meeting that was attended by a Kremlin-connected lawyer who had promised "dirt" on Hillary Clinton.

"When the president made the decision to fire FBI Director Comey, Mr. Kushner supported it", Kushner's attorney, Abbe Lowell, told the the Wall Street Journal. Though the letter was never ultimately sent after White House counsel Don McGahn strongly advised against it, Trump fired Comey days later. But as bad as the Russian Federation investigation may be, it's not clear a NY homecoming would be much better for Kushner, given that his family's debt-ridden office tower at 666 Fifth Avenue could be headed for bankruptcy.
