Man accidentally shoots self, wife in Tennessee church while talking shootings

According to this report out of Knoxville, during their discussion, a man in his 80s made a decision to pull out his.380 Ruger and proclaim that he can "carry my handgun everywhere".

When another person asked to see the pistol, the man took it out of his pocket and his finger accidentally hit the trigger. "Evidently he just forgot that he re-chambered the weapon", the officer says.

The man removed the magazine and cleared the chamber to show the pistol to the others. He put the magazine back in, apparently loaded a round in the chamber and put the gun back in its holster.

Kiss's Gene Simmons banned from Fox News for life
Management wasn't happy about this when staffers complained, and it would seem Simmons is now a persona-non-grata at Fox properties.

Parks said the bullet sliced the man's palm, then entered the left side of his wife's abdomen and exited the right side.

The man, who has not been identified, is not expected to be charged, Tellico Plains Police Chief Russ Parks tells the News Sentinel. Since America is a country with almost one gun for every citizen, it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility that someone would be shot at their church while attending a meeting about church shootings.

"No one who was in the church is wishing to press charges and we in the police department think they've suffered enough", Parks said, according to the paper. Tellico Plains police said the injuries did not appear to be fatal and that no charges will be filed.
