NASA's, NOAA's JPSS-1 Weather Satellite Launch Delayed After Rocket Issue

NASA's, NOAA's JPSS-1 Weather Satellite Launch Delayed After Rocket Issue

The launch of the first of NOAA's planned four Joint Polar Satellite System, or JPSS-1, was scrubbed early this morning due to a combination of wayward boats that had crossed into restricted space as well as a couple of positions that reported technical "no go" s during the countdown and system checks. "This transition of the second flight unit to the Joint Polar Satellite Systems not only capitalizes fully on that previous experience, but also demonstrates our commitment to developing a long-term partnership with both NASA and NOAA on this program".

The JPSS is the Nation's new generation polar-orbiting operational environmental satellite system.

The JPSS-1 satellite is scheduled to launch on November 10 at 1:47 a.m. PST from Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif.

Microsoft's Black Friday Deals Include $100 off Windows Mixed Reality Headsets
Black Friday 2017 is now less than couple of weeks from now and early deals have started to emerge online. Dell's Alienware 17 laptop is available for $1,600, but again, doesn't list the original price.

Built by Ball Aerospace of Boulder, Colorado, the satellite will pass over the equator about 14 times each day, covering the globe twice every 24 hours. Sensors aboard the spacecraft will collect measurements of air, ocean, and ground conditions, as well as fire locations, temperatures and water vapor throughout the atmosphere.

Ball Aerospace designed and built the JPSS-1 satellite bus, and Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite instrument, integrated all five of the spacecraft's instruments and performed satellite-level testing and launch support.

"We're pretty excited about the launch", said Joe Pica, director of the weather service's office of operations, who added the spacecraft is created to last about seven years. The first stage of the Delta II rocket arrived at Vandenberg's NASA Hangar 836 on April 4, 2016.

Tennessee AD Comments On Butch Jones Firing
Missouri (5-5, 2-4) scored five Saturday night and the loss dropped Tennessee into a last-place tie with Vandy in the East. Jones began his head coaching career at Central Michigan before moving to Cincinnati and eventually to Tennessee in 2013.

The United Launch Alliance rocket was slated to lift off from the base at 1:47 a.m.

On April 11, 2017, at Vandenberg Air Force Base, a United Launch Alliance Delta II second stage is hoisted into the gantry at Space Launch Complex 2. "JPSS will continue this trend", he added.

The new polar orbiter will be much closer in, 500 miles above earth.

Trump gets Philippines president Duterte to sing on stage
The Philippines will be Trump's last stop on a marathon tour that has taken him to Japan, South Korea, China as well as Vietnam. The South China Sea will likely be a hot topic throughout the summit, as most claimants will be attending.
