Attorney General Sessions says now recalls meeting flagged in Russian Federation probe

President Donald Trump's repeated public comments attacking the Justice Department have not influenced the department or ongoing investigations, Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Tuesday during a contentious House judiciary committee hearing.

Following Mr. Sessions' recusal, responsibility of the probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election was passed to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who appointed special counsel Robert Mueller to take over the investigation into that matter and all related matters.

More broadly, though, the renewed scrutiny of Clinton and the foundation reflects a political score Trump has a stated interest in settling, at a time that he would like far less interest in his own campaign's contacts with Russian Federation. He said he mentioned in passing to Sessions that he was preparing to visit Russian Federation and Sessions "had no reaction whatsoever".

The lawmakers enumerated a long list of questionable activities by James Comey, Obama-era Attorney General Loretta Lynch, Special Counsel Robert Mueller, and others.

"Are you recused from investigations that involved Secretary Clinton?"

US Attorney General Jeff Sessions vowed Tuesday to decide quickly whether to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Hillary Clinton's alleged mishandling of classified materials when she was secretary of state.

'Padmavati' makers open to screen the film to quell the doubts
What have we gotten ourselves into? But it was the Padmavati duo, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor , who stole the limelight. Shahid has urged the audience to watch the movie first before concluding that history has been fabricated in any in the film.

Sessions testified at the Senate Judiciary Committee last month, and testified that he had no knowledge of any contacts between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation.

Sessions asked with a slight smirk.

"I do now recall" the meeting where adviser George Papadopoulos made the proposal, Sessions said, "but I have no clear recollection of the details of what he said during the meeting".

"I did not and I'm not aware of anyone else that did, and I don't believe it happened", Sessions said under questioning, again from Franken.

Representative Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) said she thought it was ludicrous that Sessions had managed to get away with so many non-answers to House questions.

Or, so Sessions tells the House Judiciary Committee.

"But I will not accept and reject accusations that I have ever lied under oath".

The matter took on new life after a report last month said the FBI was investigating possible Russian attempts to influence the USA nuclear sector at the time CFIUS was considering the sale of Uranium One to Rosatom.

According to court documents, Papadopoulos told the meeting he could help use his Russian connections to broker a meeting between then-candidate Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"The Department of Justice can never be used to retaliate politically against opponents".

Democrats say that five congressional committees have looked into the uranium sale and found nothing improper.

The department said in a letter to the House Judiciary Committee Monday that Sessions had directed senior federal prosecutors to "evaluate certain issues" raised in recent weeks by members of Congress, which include allegations that the Clinton Foundation benefited from a years-old uranium transaction involving a Russian-backed company.
