Air traffic controller received homemade pipe bomb from roommate, police say

- Two Charlotte residents have been charged with manufacturing and possessing a weapon of mass destruction, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. The suspect was working at Charlotte Douglas International Airport during the time of his arrest.

Paul Dandan, 30, has been charged with possession of a weapon of mass destruction, acquiring a weapon of mass destruction and transporting a weapon of mass destruction. Police say Dandan, an air traffic controller at Charlotte-Douglas, had a homemade pipe bomb he got from another man.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police received a tip that someone had a pipe bomb at a home in northwest Charlotte.

It can also be in the form of a poisonous chemical, a weapon involving a disease organism, or one that is created to release deadly radiation.
