National figures, lawmakers react to bombshell report about Roy Moore

Roy Moore, a candidate for the U.S. Senate in Alabama, said during a debate on September 21 that "crime, corruption, immorality, abortion, sodomy, sexual perversion sweep our land".

The Washington Post published a story Thursday documenting the accusations by Leigh Corfman, who spoke on the record to the paper along with her mother, as well as three other women who say Moore pursued romantic involvement when they were between the ages of 16 and 18 and he was in his early 30s.

Daniel Dale, the Washington correspondent for the Toronto Star, has been asking local Republican officials in Alabama what they make of the allegations. She remembers going inside and him giving her alcohol on this visit or the next, and that at some point she told him she was 14.

Moore came under fire for his extremely conservative positions and statements made over the years, including a 2006 suggestion that Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison, the first Muslim elected to Congress, shouldn't be seated because "Islamic law is simply incompatible with our law", and his contention that homosexuality should be illegal. Corfman says the incident occurred in 1979 when she was 14-years-old and he was 32-years-old. The two were sitting on a bench outside when she says Moore approached and introduced himself.

"If these allegations are true, Roy Moore should step aside for the all the obvious reasons - very disturbing allegations", McConnell told reporters.

Alford to sit 3 players reportedly involved in shoplifting
Georgia Tech players Justin Moore , Jose Alvarado and Jon Brown were questioned but later released, according to the newspaper. Police spoke to multiple players from both teams and inspected bus cargo compartments before arresting Ball, Riley and Hill.

'I felt responsible, ' she says.

I think it's pretty clear cut. Corfman never filed a police report or a civil suit, the Post said. Luther Strange (R., Ala.), who lost in the primary to Moore, would be an eligible write-in candidate, said John Bennett, an official at the Alabama Secretary of State's office.

The second time she visited his home, she said Moore took off his clothes, as well as her shirt and trousers, and touched her over her bra and underwear and began guiding her hand toward his crotch. "I wanted out", Corfman told the Post.

"I remember the further I got from my house, the more nervous I got, ' Corfman said". The Post has reported the Foundation for Moral Law has given Moore over a million dollars worth of compensation and that it has employed multiple members of his family as well.

On Thursday, Moore issued a statement saying the charges were untrue. "All I know is that I can't sit back and let this continue, let him continue without the mask being removed". The legal drinking age in Alabama was 19.

Obama reports for jury duty in Chicago
With tons of photographers and fans around, Obama appeared bright and cheery given the circumstances. And in 2003, former President Bill Clinton reported for jury duty in federal court in New York City.

"This garbage is the very definition of fake news and intentional defamation", his campaign added in the same statement.

Two of Corfman's friends say she told them about "seeing an older man", the Post reports, and one of them identified Moore as the man. Corfman's mother, Nancy Wells, 71, says her daughter told her of the encounters more than a decade later.

Wendy Miller says she was just 14 and dressed as an Elf who was a "Santa's helper" at the mall.

Mr Moore, a populist former chief justice in the state, has been widely expected to defeat a Democratic rival, Doug Jones, in a December election for the open seat left by US Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
